The stance
Every number HauntKeep puts on screen has a source, and the app names it — a sensor in this phone, a rule the app discloses, or a value it fetched or worked out rather than measured. It never lets one stand in for another.
HauntKeep makes no claim about what its readings mean. Modes that measure real, physical signals are labeled REAL, and the ones built for mood and story are labeled EXPERIENCE — on the tile, before you open it. The day's space weather and local conditions are fetched over the network, and the moon phase is worked out from the date; each is labeled that way wherever it appears, never shown as something your phone measured. When the hardware a mode needs is missing, that mode says so and stops rather than showing you a number.
How it works
01 · Trace
The mechanism is on screen
Every sensor-driven mode shows the live input that is driving it. Measurements come directly from the sensor; interpretive outputs are generated from disclosed rules and inputs, and both arrive with the steps that produced them.
02 · Label
Every mode declares itself
REAL, ENHANCEMENT, DETECTION MODEL, EXPERIENCE or COMPOSITE — the badge sits on the tile, at the point of choice, so you know what a mode is before you open it.
03 · Baseline
Measured against your room
A baseline sweep records what your room's normal actually is, with a standard-deviation gauge, so you can see when the field moves outside it.

Investigation sessions
A baseline, first
Record a baseline sweep, about a minute long, so spikes are measured against your room's own normal.
The cross-mode timeline
Events from every instrument line up on one ruler, highlighting moments when two or more independent sensors log events within the same time window.
Real environmental context
Tag a session with weather, sunrise/sunset, moon phase, and the space-weather Kp index — none of it measured by your phone, and each one labeled that way.
Export the whole thing
Take a session out as a clean report or a shareable zip: captures, recordings, notes and the event log, grouped by instrument.
Private by design
No accounts, no ads, no trackers
No sign-up, no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no ad identifiers. We operate no servers of our own.
Your captures stay on your device
Recordings, photos and notes are written to the app's private storage and excluded from cloud backup. Nothing is shared unless you share it.
One optional exception
The only thing that leaves your phone automatically is an approximate, rounded location sent to a weather service — and only when you tap to add environmental context. Read the policy →
What to expect
The instruments read your phone's real sensors, and every value arrives with the steps behind it. HauntKeep is an entertainment app, not a scientific, medical, or safety instrument, and it makes no claim about what its readings mean. What those readings mean is left entirely to you.
It contains paranormal and mild-horror themes and is intended for a general — not young child — audience. Grab a friend, turn out the lights, and go exploring.
